Fashion & Textiles in New York

Fashion & Textile student trips to
New York

One of the world's four great fashion hot houses, New York is a fabulously inspirational place for Fashion and Textile students to visit on an educational trip.

NYC has an intense community of design studios, production workshops, wholesale warehouses, retail outlets, boutiques and education institutions. The European trio of London, Milan and Paris each has their own claim to superiority, but New York brings a uniquely North American flavour to its fashion culture.

There is a range of specialist excursions chosen by Equity for students on a college or university trip to New York. These include walking the streets of the fashion district to learn the insider secrets of the textile buyers, pattern-makers, designers, graders, workshops and showrooms.

On a visit to The Museum at FIT, students can see garments and accessories from its permanent collection of 50,000 pieces from the 18th century to the present.

Students also have the opportunity to visit the Woodbury Common Designer Outlet, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute and take a special fashion tour at Macy's, one of the largest department stores in the world.
