Budapest

Architecture in Budapest

Architecture student trips to Budapest

The streets of Budapest are punctuated with fascinating and significant examples of architecture. Art Nouveau, Secessionist, Deco, and Bauhaus, huge public buildings and small tucked-away-treasures, some painstakingly renovated, others sadly faded. The urban space of Hungary’s capital is even more captivating when you consider that a huge swathe was built during the relatively short period from 1885 until the start of the Second World War.

Simply strolling around the city provides superb examples to students on an Architecture educational trip, but Equity offer selected excursions to enhance their experience still further. Several centuries of architectural styles can been seen during a visit to Buda Castle, while Budapest Godollo Castle superbly presents the height of style during the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Students can also go on a Jugendstil Tour of the city and see numerous significant buildings including the Academy of Music.

Other excursions include tours of the Gothic revival style Hungarian Parliament and a visit to The Vigadó of Pest, a gallery, concert hall and theatre, described as a rich mixture of Romanticism with Oriental and Hungarian Art Nouveau.
