Architecture student trips to Barcelona
Barcelona is renowned as an architectural treasure house, making it a perfect destination for an Architecture educational trip. Although synonymous with Antoni Gaudi, the Catalan capital has a wealth of other buildings by influential and innovative designers.
The Sagrada Familia is the iconic epitome of Antoni Gaudi’s architecture, despite being only a quarter finished when he died in 1926. Construction still continues and students can attempt to identify Gaudi’s work and the influence of subsequent architects over the years.
On a guided walking tour of Barcelona’s streets students will be shown the hidden gems of Gaudi’s work dotted throughout the city. They will witness his love of incorporating ceramics into his organic buildings, seen to particular effect in the Parc Guell. The walking tour also reveals masterpieces by other modernist architects including Lluís Domènech i Montaner and Josep Puig i Cadafalch.
