Urban Planning in Barcelona
Barcelona is considered one of the world's biggest successes in urban planning making it an ideal destination for Urban Planning students. Built in the 19th century during the industrial revolution, the district of eixample (meaning extension) has proven to stand the test of time, with wide diagonal boulevards combining the medieval city to a modern neighborhood. The more recent planning of the Olympic Village in 1992 is still an extraordinary example of re-development and urbanization.
