Student Study Tours to Krakow
Krakow, which celebrated its 750th birthday in 2007, is one of the largest and oldest cities in Poland. For 500 years Krakow was the royal capital of Poland and throughout this time it absorbed a huge amount of history and talent producing today a treasure trove of Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Fortunately this beautiful city emerged largely intact after WWII and it boasts an incredible array of historic buildings and monuments. In 1978 its historic centre was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site – the first of its kind – and it is listed today as one of the world's 12 most historic places.
Educational Focus
Krakow is an interesting destination for a wide variety of student study tours. For History students a visit to the Jewish Quarter, Kazmierz, where the film Schindler's List was made is a must as is, of course, a guided trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau to bring home the chilling realities of Nazi occupation. Art students are well catered for thanks to Krakow's vast collection of artworks with some 2.3 million different registered pieces and Business Studies students will benefit from a trip to the Wielczka Salt Mine or the Zywiec Brewery.
